NOTICE: Important Update Regarding Medicaid Coverage
Dear Valued Clients,
We hope this notice finds you in good health and high spirits. We are writing to inform you of a significant change to our services that will come into effect starting January 1, 2024.
After careful consideration and evaluation, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue accepting Medicaid as a form of payment for our services. This decision was not made lightly, and we understand that it may impact some of our valued clients.
Over the years, we have been committed to providing exceptional care and services to all of our clients, and we genuinely appreciate the trust you have placed in us. However, due to changes in the healthcare landscape and the complexities associated with Medicaid reimbursement, we have found it necessary to streamline our payment methods to ensure that we can continue offering the highest standard of care to our clients.
We want to reassure you that this decision will not affect the quality of care we provide or our dedication to your well-being. We remain committed to you and will be assessing payment options to ensure that accessing our services remains as straightforward as possible.
If you are currently using Medicaid as your payment method, we kindly ask that you explore alternative payment options available to you. Our team is available to assist you in understanding these options and transitioning smoothly to another payment method that suits your needs. If you will need to seek services with a practice who will be able to bill Medicaid, information on this can be provided to you. Should you have any questions regarding this change, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team at 907-803-7022, or email us at front-desk@hatsofwisdom.com.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are grateful for your understanding and support during this transitional period. As always, our primary focus remains on providing you with excellent care and service.
Thank you for being a valued client of Hats of Wisdom. We look forward to continuing to serve you on your mental health journey.
Warm regards,
Josephine Barry, Ed.D.
LPC-S, C.E.O.

Insurance
Due to a partnership with neighboring clinics, we accept most medical insurances including BlueCross, Tricare (must have a referral), Aetna and more. If you do not have medical insurance or are unable to pay the self-pay rate, financial arrangements may be made.
Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.
We recommend asking these questions to your medical insurance provider to help determine your benefits:
- Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
- Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and have I met it yet?
- Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
- Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?
Payment
We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards as forms of payment.
Cancellation Policy
In the event that you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that all clients notify our office at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance. If this is not possible please contact our office as soon as you know you will not be able to attend your scheduled appointment.
If you are more than 15 minutes late you may be asked to reschedule.
